Biography
Angelo Brotto, born in Venice in 1914, graduated fro the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia in 1941. Among his first works were commissions by the Peggy Guggenheim’s collection. Today he's best know for his lighting design in collaboratin with Murano glassmaker Esperia during the 1960s and 1970s. They were breaking with the traditional ways in which the glassmaking skills of Murano were applied in light designs. Brotto participated in many biennials and during his career, he won many a design and art awards for example Bergamo, Cremona, Suzzara, and Verona, as well as at the first Exhibition of Engravings in Rome. Brotto passed away in Campiglia Marittima in 2002.
