Biography
Born in Milan in 1913, Luigi Caccia Dominioni graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 1936. Immediately after graduation he opened a joint studio with the brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Called up for military service, he fled to neutral Switzerland in 1943. In 1946 he returned to Milan and resumed his work. With Ignazio Gardella and others he founded the Azucena company, where objects and furnishings designed by the group were presented for sale. Numerous buildings in Milan and Zurich still bear his signature. The designer's creativity remained unbroken into old age. Caccia Dominioni died in Milan in 2016 at the age of 103.
