Biography
Massimo Iosa Ghini is one of the younger architects and designers who collaborated with the Memphis Group. He first studied architecture in Florence before graduating in Milan in 1988. Iosa Ghini was very successful in various disciplines. In the early 1980s he drew comics for cultural magazines such as 'Alter Linus' in Milan and 'Frigidaire' in Rome. In 1985 he created some studio architectures for the RAI television channel. In 1986 he was one of the founding members of the Bolidismo movement. Among the sources of inspiration for the young association of architects were American Streamline design and Italian Futurism, with the aim of realizing dynamic design. Iosa Ghini worked for Moroso and from 1989 for the Japanese lighting manufacturer Yamagiwa. In addition to his architectural projects, Iosa Ghini expressed himself as a speaker on theoretical topics. In 2010 he curated the Venice Architecture Biennale. In 2013, the Triennale Museum in Milan dedicated a retrospective to him, honoring 30 years of his work. The architect and designer has been awarded numerous prizes such as the Red Dot as well as the Premio Marconi.
