Biography
Wolfgang Tümpel Bielefeld 1903-1978 Herdecke In addition to the Bielefeld School of Applied Arts, Tümpel did an apprenticeship as a goldsmith with August Schlueter in 1921/22. In the winter semester of 1922 he enroled at the Bauhaus in Weimar, where he initially trained in Naum Slutzky's goldsmith's workshop. In 1924 he switched to the metal workshop. After the Bauhaus moved to Dessau, Tümpel went to Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, where he worked under Karl Müller. In 1927 he had his first workshop in Halle, the 'Workshop for Vessels, Jewelry, Lighting'. In 1928 he worked there with his former classmate at the Bauhaus, Hans Przyrembel, until he moved to Cologne in 1929. Up to 1968 Tümpel worked in various companies and cities, including at the Landeskunstschule Hamburg.
