Biography
Julius Zimpel jr. (1896 - 1925) Vienna
The nephew of Gustav Klimt attended the School of Applied Arts in Vienna from 1911-16. His teachers there included Koloman Moser. At the age of 20, he was already teaching at the advanced training schools for bookbinders and jewelers. After the First World War, he began working for the Wiener Werkstätte and finally succeeded Dagobert Peche as artistic director after the latter's death in 1923. In this short time, he was responsible for a large number of different objects in a wide variety of materials. He died of influenza at the age of just 29.
