Emile Gallé. 'Mante en vol' jug, c1880-85. H. 14.8 cm. Smoke coloured glass, upper part optically blown. Enamelled pattern with gold-hues. Flying mantis and branches. Marked: E. Gallé Nancy (diamond cut). Original label FAIENCES & VERRERIES D'ART EMILE GALLÉ NANCY PARIS No. 279, further label, faintly inscribed: C....EISEN ÉPINAL.
