Once again, the artist's postcards from the estate of Expressionism collector Dr. Elsa Hopf enjoyed the highest popularity as in the sale in December 2015. This time, three compositions “en miniature” by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Erich Heckel were on offer, purchased by dealers and private collectors alike. Two paintings of the Polish Avantgarde of the 1960s and 1990s were very popular as well.

Karl Schmidt-Rottluff's artist's postcard 'Two Yellow Houses' from the year 1911 received the highest bid. A dealer got the upper hand online at €36,000 over several bidders on the floor and over the phones (lot 649, estimate €12,000 – 15,000). The same online bidder secured himself the 'Two Poppy Flowers' by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff in 1910, hammered down at €12,000 (lot 648, estimate €12,000 – 15.000). The artist's postcard 'Tower hidden behind Trees', 1911, also by Schmidt-Rottluff, climbed to €28,000 and went into a Berlin-based private collection (lot 650, estimate €12,000 – 15,000). The fourth postcard from the partial estate of Dr. Elsa Hopf, 'Woman at her Dresser', was allocated to a private collector who defeated a dealer on the floor at €30,000 (lot 610, estimate €22,000 – 25,000). The informal gestic-expressive painting by Teresa Tyszkiewicz (lot 733) experienced the highest price surge for Postwar and Contemporary Art. Estimated at a moderate €4,000 – 5,000, international collectors on several phones increased the hammer price for 'Gest' from the year 1966 to €17,000. Tomasz Tatarczyk's large-formatted work in oil on paper was highly popular as well (lot 731, estimate €15,000 – 20,000). It was knocked down at €15,000. Both 'Caducée I + II' by Salvador Dalí (lots 685 and 686, estimates €3,200 – 3,500 and €10,000 – 12,000) were bought by one and the same collector for €13,400 each. All prices excluding buyer's premium.

The post auction sale ends on July 22, 2016.
