Bansi Lal (after). Tapestry 'To Mr. L-C', dedicated to Le Corbusier, late 1950s. 98.5 x 222.0 cm. Gobelin tapestry, wool on cotton painted and stained with natural colours. Dedication: "To Mr. L-C", Chandigarh, Punjab in Sanskrit and English: "CHANDICARH" for Chandigarh, "BANSI LAL" for the author of the draft. Further inscription in Hindi.
Bansi Lal was an artist who worked as a cook at Pierre Jeanneret's house in Chandigarh. Provenance: Le Corbusier, late 1950s/early 1960s, Albert Jeanneret, since 1967 private collection North-Rhine Westphalia (gift from A. Jeanneret).
