Ceiling light from the Bauhaus Dessau

Marianne Brandt. Ceiling light from the Bauhaus at Dessau, 1926. H. 51 cm; D. 23 cm. Made at Bauhaus Dessau (attributed). Sheet aluminium, tubular aluminium, glass, clear matt and opal white; bulb socket of porcelain.

The ceiling light had been found in a construction waste container in the course of the first extensive remedial action on the Bauhaus Dessau in 1986. Unfortunately, several original pieces of furniture were thrown away, like parts of the original seating of the auditorium.
