'Libellules et soleil' vase

Daum Frères, Nancy. 'Libellules et soleil' vase, 1902-05. H. 28,5 cm. Cased glass, clear, opalescent yellow and orange. One side includes burst gold foil, pattern with four flying dragonflies. Back: Sunset over the sea, etched pattern, worked with the wheel. Foot inscribed (etched and gold-hued): CE COUCHER D'UN SOLEIL, EST D'UN AUTRE L'AURORE (from 'Psalmodies de l'âme' by Alphonse de Lamartine (Mâcon 1790-1869 Paris). Signed: DAUM NANCY, cross of Lorraine.
