'Co-Op Interieur' folding chair , 1925/26

H. 92 x 51 x 53 cm. Made in Switzerland. Beechwood, woven, striped fabric.

"The year 1925 marked the beginning of a new development in the field of home furnishings and the design of everyday objects. This new beginning can be outlined with three events: with the design of the first tubular steel chair by Marcel Breuer at the Dessau Bauhaus, with the 'equipment' of the pavilion de l'Esprit Nouveau by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret at the international arts and crafts exhibition in Paris and with the publication of the 'Co-op-Interieurs' by Hannes Meyer in the Berlin magazine Der Uhu. " (Mehlau-Wiebking / Rüegg / Tropeano: Schweizer Typmöbel 1925-1935, Zurich 1989, p. 10).
