Literature:

"Daniel Grobet was fascinated by balance, movement and shadows. While he was self-taught as a sculptor, he created the “Attrape-feux” – “the fire catchers”. Between 1975 and 1996, Daniel Grobet created a collection of 40 different candlesticks in limited editions, which play with the energy of a simple candle. He tried to explore the limits of balance and created increasingly complex works. These small sculptures are set in motion by burning one or more candles, with the loss of weight causing the transformation of the object. By the way, Daniel wanted Grobet did not call his “Attrape-feux” candlesticks because for him they were small sculptures that simply used the candle as a “motor” for their transformation. The “Attrape-feux” were sold by the best designer shops in Germany and Switzerland and were enthusiastically received over many years. Most of the designs and realizations served Daniel Grobet as studies for the development of large individual works." https://www.grobet.ch/willkommen/das-werk/die-attrape-feux-und-lichtskulpturen/
