"When I designed the original Tom Vack aluminum chairs - which are rare and hard to find today - they were made of vacuum-formed aluminum. I found it amusing to associate them with Tom Vack, the photographer who was working on some of my Italian projects at the time. I was amused when Tom told me that after the plastic version was a great success and had spread all over the world, he was asked in a small bar on Lake Como: "Were you named after the chair?"
